The good news

Salvation is the gift of God's grace, won by Jesus Christ on the cross. No one can earn it by good works. Everyone is called to turn from their sin and trust in Jesus Christ.

Why sixty-six books?

The Old Testament has 39 books and the New Testament 27. The 1689 London Baptist Confession lists these 66 books by name and says the books called the Apocrypha, "not being of divine inspiration, are no part of the canon".

The first King James Bible of 1611 did print the Apocrypha, in a separate section between the Testaments.
